I wanted to focus my Zine around travel, as this has always been a really big and important part of my life. I made 4 collages in photoshop, and 2 illustrator pieces of snapshots of two places I really want to go: Lake Como and Tel Aviv. I then used illustrator to create the front and back cover and customize some stickers that went on the suitcase.
I started by making two collages that brought together all the amazing places I want to go. I had a lot of fun researching these places and even finding new places I didn't even know I wanted to visit. I really liked the way they came together in the end, and they might be my favorite pieces of this project.
I then made two pop-art esque images in illustrator based on photos of Lake Como, Italy and Tel Aviv, Israel. These are the two countries I want to visit the absolute most. I had fun outlining the images and seeing them become cartoony and more pop art. This process was very tedious, as I tend to want to be perfect in these drawings.
I made two more collages in photoshop, one that represents the most important part of traveling to me, which is the people. I think the most important way to experience a culture is through it's people. I then ended the book with a collage representing how COVID cancelled my abroad experience and how I was unable to see all these amazing places.
Finally, I made the two covers, which I made to look like a suitcase. I added personalized stickers to the front and back. On the front I have ones that represent me and how I present myself, and the back are all the countries I have been to outside the US so far.
